Eastern Region - FCS

 

Tai Chi for Arthritis

The Tai Chi for Arthritis program is based on Sun style tai chi, chosen because of it's healing component. For more information go to the State FCS Tai Chi page.

 

The Eastern Region has certified Tai Chi instructors in several counties.

Tai Chi Workshop -- Terre Haute, Indiana

The Tai Chi workshop held in Terre Haute, IN was a 6-day intensive training covering all things Tai Chi. Participants and instructors came from across the US and around the world to attend the training. FCS Extension Agents from the Eastern Region attended training sessions covering Sun Style 73 Form. Sun Style 73 Form is the form of Tai Chi that serves as the basis of the Tai Chi for Arthritis Program.

In addition to practicing the 73 Form, participants received instruction in tai chi research, managing students in the Tai Chi classroom, as well instructional techniques to foster student success in mastering Tai Chi.

These agents applied and were awarded Lovelace-McKinney funds to attend this training.

The UT Extension delegation included the 4 Eastern Region agents as well as Belinda Riddle and Janie Monday.

 

 

After four hours of TaI Chi each day, there was still energy to have fun!!
